Live on Class 95 FM: Zen Zu Fu Featured on Muttons In The Morning

Behind the Mic: Zen Zu Fu Live on Class 95 FM’s Muttons In The Morning

Singapore’s morning commute got a whole lot warmer as Zen Zu Fu was featured on Mediacorp Class 95’s popular Friday morning segment, "People In Our Neighbourhood"! Hosted by Justin Ang and Vernon A (The Muttons), the weekly segment spotlights local Singaporeans running unique, unconventional businesses across the island.

Broadcast live across the radio airwaves and on Facebook Live, the studio session offered listeners a deeply personal look into the heart, hustle, and family story behind building a modern durian brand from the ground up.

Inside the Studio: Personal Highlights from the Interview

During the live chat and Facebook stream, The Muttons asked a few core questions about the journey:

1. "Why choose durians among so many different jobs out there?"

"It all started with family and a very special bond with my grandmother."

After graduating from polytechnic, we were initially unsure of which path to take. Growing up in a humble household where money was tight, buying durians was a special family occasion—everyone would pool their money together just so we could sit around and enjoy them. Because my grandmother loved durians so much, entering this business became a way to honor that bond and turn a cherished family tradition into a lifelong career.

2. "What do you do when durians are not in season?"

"We adapt, innovate, and diversify."

Off-peak seasons mean looking beyond fresh fruit. We constantly explore new possibilities—developing both durian-inspired creations (like handcrafted snowskin delicacies) and non-durian products to keep our community engaged year-round.

3. "What advice would you give to aspiring livestreamers looking to start?"

"Just do it. Every type of personality has its audience."

I used to struggle with speech issues, including a stutter. But when it came to building this business, I knew I had to step out of my comfort zone. Overcoming that flaw on camera showed me that you don’t need to be a polished actor to connect with people—authenticity is what resonates. If I can do it, anyone can start.
